I am the proud mommy of a potbelly pig. Her name is "TT" and she is now 10 months old and I've raised her since she was born. She is so smart, sweet and loving! She brightens my day. I came across this site while looking for an answer to my question of "How to keep her skin from drying out and flaking like dandruff?" I started to look around this site and thought, " Finally, people who I can talk to about pigs." Still wondering how to deflake her dandruff? Well I will visit the site everyday to read. Love all the information and cute pictures you share! Take care!

Admin reply: Thank you Brendalee, I have been corresponding with you via E-Mail. I hope you sign up for our monthly newsletter, because it has many interesting articles such as medical and informational articles, as well as cute PIGtures of our piggies at recent events. I look forward to hearing more about "TT". ~ Peggy. SCAMPP Secretary

Just came across this wonderful organization. Great website!

I am in search of a vet in So. Cal. who has successfully performed neutering surgeries on cryptorchid potbellied pigs. Thanks!

Admin reply: Debbie just signed up for SCAMPP membership! We look forward to meeting you soon and hearing more about Rob. BTW, SCAMPP members were able to recommend a great experienced vet to do Rob's surgery and we heard that Rob did have his surgery and is recovering nicely.

Santa brought "Stella" the mini pig to my kids last Christmas. She never messed in the house and was extremely smart. She slept on a bean bag chair every night and was extremely smart....she opened cabinets at night, head butted the trash can, turned over the potatoe bin...she was too smart! She was also lonely and cried when we weren't home. We gave her to a petting zoo. It was sad, but she is now happy and still loved.

Admin reply: Sometimes potbellied pigs can be a handful, just like children. You must have the time and PATIENCE to train them in the way they should grow to be. You need to show them that you are "top hog" and the BOSS. On the other hand, if they are raised with alot of love and care and TRAINING, they are very intelligent and can be the sweetest pets ever. I have owned potbellied pigs for over 24 years and could not ask for better pets; I would not trade my potbellied pigs for the world.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- He's mastered the tricks of a well-trained puppy, but 7-month old Chuy is a mini potbellied pig. #chuytheminipig

Marcela Iglesias and her husband, Steve, bought Chuy from a breeder. He's lived in their Westlake Village home since he was just a couple of weeks old. But recently a county official told Marcela she had 30 days to get rid of Chuy.

"There's no way I'm gonna get rid of Chuy or put Chuy in a shelter because he's like my son, he's my baby," Marcella said.

Chuy has his own Facebook page and has become a neighborhood celebrity. Marcela says he's very clean, house-trained and not aggressive.

The animal control officer told the couple Chuy had to go because a city ordinance classifies miniature pigs as livestock.

"Potbellied pigs are different because potbellied pigs were introduced to America after those codes and regulations were implemented, so we're trying to change those codes," Marcela said.

Steve says potbellied pigs are "really smart, really friendly, good animals, good pets."

Marcella appealed to the Westlake Village City Council and got some encouraging news.

"They already called animal control to put a stop on the situation until we come to a resolution and maybe we can be able to review the codes and change the livestock to domestic pets," Marcela said.

Admin reply: If anyone can help, such as write letters to the city, sign her petition, put it on your Facebook, whatever....please do.

Hi, does anyone have any used LARGE soak pools? I know the new ones are very expensive. Marlies bought me a small one a few years ago, and my "kids" love it, but I really could use a large one. Donation would be greatly appreciated but if you have a used one for sale, that's fine too. Just let me know. Thanks!
