We strongly advocate adoption versus buying from breeders, because there is an
overabundance of abused, neglected, abandoned piggies in shelters and
sanctuaries that need homes. We can refer you to rescue facilities where you may
adopt a piggie for generally little or no cost. Sometimes neuter or spay costs
must be recovered. In addition, questionnaires and home checks should be
required in order to assure that you are knowledgeable, zoned, and properly set-
up to give a pig the happy, safe and healthy forever home that it needs.
If you can not adopt, then temporary foster homes and sponsors are always
needed. If you can't foster, donations are always needed, because sometimes we
can provide rescue but most times the pigs need to be neutered, spayed or in
need of vet care first. SCAMPP is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-
deductible and you can specify where you'd like for your donation to be used.
Thank you.
IMPORTANT: If anyone does not plan to educate themselves (click here for
informational articles) on the proper needs and care of pigs, and does not
plan to keep the pig for it's lifetime (they can live 15-20 years!), then a pig is not
the right pet for them. If you are interested in getting a miniature pig as a pet,
please plan on keeping it for it's lifetime (15-20 years) and PLEASE adopt, don't
buy from breeders. If you are serious about giving a pig (or pigs) a loving forever
home, below are some adoption links to contact.
